The cricket federation of Uzbekistan (CFU) was established on November 29, 2019 when it received the Certificate about the State Registration by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The main aim of the CFU is to promote and develop cricket in Uzbekistan, to enhance its status in all respects and to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population. The CFU runs all of its activities based on its Charter approved on October 15, 2019 by the Protocol of the Authorized Collegial Meeting of the Cricket Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The president of the CFU is Aziz Mihliev who has shown his initiative in developing cricket in Uzbekistan and who has achieved and deployed it officially. Aziz Mihliev’s interests and motives played an important role in the formation of the CFU and its further development throughout the country.

“Since cricket is a popular sport in many parts of the world, we also decided to develop this sport as we believe that our youth are very competent and have shown great results in different types of championships. Cricket can bring new opportunities, new insights, and new goals to our country.” says the president of the CFU while giving an interview to Shounak Sarkar, a sports journalist in Emerging Cricket.

The CFU is a non-governmental public organization self-funding its activities from the start of its formation. Therefore, most of the staff are working on the volunteer basis eagerly willing to promote Uzbekistan Cricket worldwide. From the beginning of the year 2020, CFU provided theoretical and practical courses to the coaches and players of cricket both locally and abroad. Besides, it has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB) which will aid in developing and promoting cricket in Uzbekistan and exchanging programs, courses, experience and information about cricket between the organizations.

Besides, over the three years to date (2022) the CFU has sent its official delegation to India, Tajikistan, UAE, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan who will be supporting CFU and organizing international friendly matches with Uzbek cricket teams. In addition, CFU regularly holds local regional matches between cricket clubs in Uzbekistan and “Triangular Series”, “ANFA Tashkent T20”, “Junior Triangular Series” are the few one of them to name.
